About Andy and How He Works With You
Andy Johnson has a long and well-regarded career in the building trade. He regards it as extremely
important to treat every home he works on as if it were his own. That’s just the kind of guy he is. He
loves working on great projects, and you don’t get to do that if you don’t respect your clients and the
space they live in.
Andy puts you at the heart of every job – his priority is to do the best work possible for you, on time and in budget. That starts by spending time with you and your family, talking through your plans and understanding your vision.
He’ll discuss schedules with you – when do you want the work done by? Are there any pressing deadlines?
How involved do you want to be? Or are you happy for Andy to project manage and report to you with progress as it happens? You’ll be able to see how the work is going if you’re living on site. Some clients prefer to move out or even go on holiday while a renovation is underway – it often depends on how extensive the work is going to be.
What materials do you want to use? You or your architect might have strong views about how you want the finished job to look. Andy will discuss any impact on timings or budget your wants will have. And if he can suggest alternatives that meet the requirements in different ways, he will.
Once he knows everything about your project, Andy will create a detailed breakdown of the costs, including the materials and labour required. That way you’ll know right from the start that he’s listened to you and has taken on board the result you’re looking for.
A schedule of works will be drawn up too. Andy isn’t one for abandoning a project to go and work on another home for a while – once his team start work, they stay with you until the job is finished. Of course, the weather, supply issues and other unforeseen problems can disrupt the best plans – but Andy’s years of experience mean that he will often foresee any trip points coming and will allow for them. There’s not much he can do about the weather, but builders are a hardy bunch and it takes pretty
extreme conditions to drive them off-site.
Trust is a major factor in Andy’s working ethos. Many of the jobs he’s worked on have involved being inside a client’s home, and sometimes close contact with their family and friends. You need to know your home and its inhabitants are in safe hands. Andy takes his responsibility to keep your home and possessions safe very seriously.
